LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Friends of Lima didn’t want the fun to end after the Memorial Day parade. The organization invited the public to gather at the Social House for a community hog roast following the festivities.

Pork was cooked and served for attendees to enjoy while listening to live music from the band, "Never Again". For children, the event featured two bouncy houses, face painting and plenty of yard games to help them burn off energy. It was a festive way to celebrate and reflect on those who have served.

"When you come down, we don't want everybody just go home. We want them to stay downtown. Bring bouncy houses for the kids, games for the kids, pork and a cash bar and celebrate Memorial Day in honor of all the people that have fallen and have given the ultimate sacrifice for Memorial Day," said Aaron Poling, president of Friends of Lima.

"We're just down here to have a good time and honor those who have fallen and served for us. Being a vet myself, I have a tremendous amount of pride and for those that have fallen for our freedom and wanted to be able to support that however I could," said Shannon Gerasimchik, owner of Social House.

Organizers prepared around 400 pounds of pork for the celebration.
