FORT JENNINGS, Ohio (WLIO) — Fort Jennings completed a Saturday doubleheader sweep of Lima Central Catholic, taking game two 5-4 after winning the opener 1-0.
In game two, the Musketeers found their offense in the middle innings. Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Derek Hark sent a flare into center field that dropped for a base hit, bringing home Sam Dube and Hunter Stewart to give Fort Jennings a 3-2 lead.
LCC responded in the fifth as Nathan Speicher delivered a base hit to center field, scoring Griffin Dawson to tie the game at three.
Speicher also contributed on the mound, recording a swinging strikeout in the bottom half of the inning.
But Fort Jennings answered right back. With a runner on third, a pitch to the backstop allowed Calvin Menke to score the go-ahead run, putting the Musketeers in front 4-3.
In the top of the seventh, Stewart closed things out. The Musketeer pitcher recorded a game-ending strikeout to earn the save as Fort Jennings secured the 5-4 win and the doubleheader sweep.
