LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — 2-1-1 is a confidential, 24-hour call and text line that connects people in Greater Lima with local help.
The information and referral service received more than 3,000 calls and texts in 2025. Since launching in late 2021, it has handled more than 16,000 requests for assistance, including everyday needs and crisis situations. The service helps connect people with resources such as food assistance, utility help, housing, transportation and employment services. The United Way says 2-1-1 serves as a single point of contact for people who are unsure where to turn.
“It really acts as kind of like a no wrong door. People sometimes don't know where to turn who to call. They'll call one organization and they'll tell them to go to another organization. So really, just kind of gives them one place to go for all of the information,” said Becca Scheidler, chief operating officer of the United Way of Greater Lima.
2-1-1 operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
