LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Heir Force Community School opened its doors on Thursday to show off its new facility to the Lima Noon Sertoma Club.

Members toured the school’s renovated space and learned more about the Grand and Main Project — a multimillion-dollar plan aimed at revitalizing Lima’s north end. The project includes an $800,000 all-abilities community play park, which planners hope will serve local families and support long-term neighborhood growth.

Heir Force Community School welcomes Lima Noon Sertoma Club to showcase new facility

“You see the completion of the Spring and Main project. You see the completion of Central District, you see the completion of the aquatic center, you see the completion of the amphitheater. So all these initiatives, in essence, were thought and action just three-plus years ago, and now they're brick and mortar, and those projects have come to fruition. We're looking forward to working with multiple stakeholders in the community to complete this project as well,” said Dr. Willie Heggins, executive director of Heir Force Community School.

“It’s amazing to see what Dr. Heggins has achieved. He’s put this vision together for years, and it’s coming to fruition. He has a plan to get there, and his leadership has been great for the community,” said Stephen Welly, president of the Lima Noon Sertoma Club.

The Grand and Main Project has already raised more than $200,000 toward the playground. Organizers hope to break ground next year.
