DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) - Speed traffic can be extremely dangerous, especially around schools, and in the area Landeck, close to Delphos, residents wanted to see a change.
Many residents were concerned about the high speed of traffic in Landeck, and after talking with the Marion Township chief of police, locals donated money to install traffic calming devices. These signs show the driver's speed, along with saying things like "slow down" with flashing red and blue lights. These calming devices are solar powered and have already shown signs up traffic slowing down.
"Now they have solar lights to remind us of our speed, and to be careful because Landeck doesn't have its own government, but they do have people crossing the road," says Ketherine Heitz, a member for the Landeck Community Committee.
With a visual reminder of speed, it is easier to slow down for the neighborhoods and to avoid getting a ticket.
