LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — For nearly 140 years, the Lima-Allen County Chamber of Commerce has been helping local businesses grow and succeed, and organization leaders say that mission remains as important today as ever.

Members of the Lima Kiwanis Club heard from Josh Unterbrink, president and CEO of the Lima-Allen County Chamber of Commerce, during a recent meeting. Unterbrink provided an overview of the chamber’s history, services and organizational structure.

Founded in 1887, the chamber works to support businesses throughout the region through advocacy, networking opportunities and a variety of value-added programs. Unterbrink also explained the distinction between the chamber, which operates as a 501(c)(6) business and trade organization, and the chamber foundation, which operates as a charitable 501(c)(3) organization.

According to Unterbrink, chamber membership provides businesses with access to resources that can help them expand their customer base and reduce operating costs.

“We're also providing a lot of networking opportunities to grow new client base. We're also providing a lot of value added programs to help improve marketing and outreach and make sure you're saving money on your taxes and on your energy consumption. So there's lots of different ways that we can help folks save money through our value added programs,” Unterbrink said.

The Lima-Allen County Chamber of Commerce currently has nearly 1,000 members and continues to seek new businesses and organizations interested in joining.

More information about chamber membership and services is available through the chamber’s website.
