LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Veterans once protected our freedoms, and now Ohio leaders are working to protect their futures by helping them find good-paying jobs.

The Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce honored local veterans Friday morning during its Wake, Rattle & Roll breakfast. Michael Dustman from JobsOhio spoke about programs available to help recruit veterans to fill in-demand positions across the state. JobsOhio partners with military bases to connect with service members preparing to transition from the military into the civilian workforce. Dustman said employers understand the value veterans bring to their companies.

“They've participated in group, you know, group environment, a team environment. They have been in leadership positions. They have been in positions that, you know, they've had to react to a lot of pressure. But if you look at the skill sets in the military, you have everything from engineering, electronics, health care, logistics, program management, human resources, finance, just about everything an employer would out there be looking for,” said Michael Dustman, program director for JobsOhio’s Aerospace and Defense Super Sector.
