Elida, Ohio (WLIO) — The defending Division VII state runners-up are moving on once again.
Tiffin Calvert swept Kalida 3–0 Thursday night in a regional semifinal at Elida High School, ending the Wildcats’ postseason run.
Kalida opened the match with energy, earning the first point of the night on a powerful kill from Rutgers commit Maila Romes.
Later in the set, senior Kendal Krouse battled at the net for a key point to close the gap, but Tiffin Calvert pulled away to take the opening set 25–16.
In the second set, Romes continued to shine for Kalida, scoring off a high feed and following with another clean kill that slipped past the defense.
Despite the strong individual effort, the Senecas’ balanced attack proved too much for the Wildcats to contain.
Tiffin Calvert controlled the pace the rest of the way, completing the sweep and advancing to face Miller City in the Division VII regional final.
Kalida’s season ends with a hard-fought tournament run and plenty of promise for the future.
