LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima City Schools’ new superintendent welcomed staff back as the district prepares for the new school year.

Andre Rudolph has officially been on the job for just a few days but has spent more time meeting with teachers and staff throughout the district. He said everyone has been warm and welcoming and ready to start the year. Rudolph hopes the staff recognize they are a family and can accomplish more together as they anticipate students returning on Wednesday.

“Anytime we get bright. I always call them bright eyed babies with big smiles ready to learn. It just does something to you. So it gets my energy flowing. It makes me extremely excited. I know my staff is excited, so we're just ready to welcome these babies into school this year,” Rudolph said.

He also shared some goals for his first year leading the district.

“I think the biggest thing is, of course, academic improvement, academic achievement. But honestly, more so, I really just want to observe, see what's going well, what's going not so well, how we can improve, and then make changes for the following year. So right now, I just want to become a part of the community, and not just the greater community, but especially the Lima City Schools community, figure out what's going on, and they go from there,” Rudolph added.

Staff also heard inspirational remarks from Ohio 8th District Court of Appeals Judge Michael John Ryan to help kick off the school year.
