LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Families looking to escape the heat spent part of Friday at the Lima Community Aquatic Park ahead of the Fourth of July weekend.
Visitors cooled off in the pool while enjoying the water slides, splash pad and dump buckets. The aquatic park also hosted a day of holiday-themed activities, including a belly flop contest, family swimming relays, water gun games and other events. Those seeking a break from the sun also had access to the indoor pool and shaded areas throughout the facility.
Kristina Gray, who was enjoying the park with her family, said it was a fun, family-friendly way to kick off the holiday weekend.
"I'm happy that they have lifeguards on staff, which is good. It's just nice and family-oriented. I just like to be in the sun, so it's a beautiful day. Might as well spend it outside with the kids and let them enjoy and have some fun."
The Lima Community Aquatic Park will be open Saturday with reduced holiday hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
