After years of planning and months of construction, the Lima Community Aquatic Park is set to open soon. One of the final steps before welcoming the public is getting lifeguards fully trained and ready for swimmers.
“We had a fantastic group this year. All the kids were really wonderful. Our leaders were great this year. So overall, I think it was a very productive and amazing year for everybody,” Washington-Allen said.
The vision of a pair of local residents leading to a brand new recreational opportunity for Indian Lake residents - and - visitors alike. A grand opening Friday morning for a new pickleball court complex located at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Old Filed Beach.
The program, which is open to children ages 6 to 12, gives kids the chance to spend their summer meeting new friends and learning more about themselves. Throughout the eight-week program, participants will go on field trips, hear from guest speakers, take part in a variety of activities, and, of course, play games.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife restocks 85,000 trout in public lakes and ponds across the state each year. The fish, which measure between 10 and 13 inches in length, are raised in Ohio hatcheries for about a year before being released.
Available positions include parks maintenance crew members, ball diamond maintenance crew members, and playground leaders. The only requirement is that applicants must be at least 16 years old. The city will provide all necessary training.
