Kids celebrate fun-filled end to Lima's Summer Playground Program

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – As summer vacation winds down, so does the City of Lima’s Summer Playground program, which wrapped up its season Friday with smiles, laughter, and high energy that felt more like the first day than the last.

Over the past eight weeks, children from the area have made new friends, taken field trips, learned new activities, and most importantly, had a lot of fun.

“We was going swimming, bowling, Sky Zone, splash pad, and pie in face today,” said Cadence Smith, excitedly recounting some of his favorite memories.

For Juelle Petty, one activity stood out above the rest.

“Swimming because it was hot outside and I like swimming,” she said.

Program Coordinator Julia Washington-Allen praised both the participants and the staff for making the summer successful.

“We had a fantastic group this year. All the kids were really wonderful. Our leaders were great this year. So overall, I think it was a very productive and amazing year for everybody,” Washington-Allen said.

With the program now over, many of the kids are already encouraging others to join next summer. Their message is simple: you’ll have fun.
