LIMA, OH (WLIO) — Lima City Council discussed speeding issues on residential streets across the city.
City engineers gave the Lima council members the opportunity to weigh in on the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program. Data collected through a public workshop and a survey found that Nixon Avenue, Cable Road, Lakewood Avenue, and Cole Street had the highest number of public responses regarding speeding and cut-through traffic.

Council also reviewed possible solutions, which could include street reconstruction, enforcement, or education to address the concerns. Speeding and cut-through traffic are among the top complaints council members receive from residents, which is why including the community in the process is a priority.
“We want to make sure that we have citizens participation is because we know that these are the neighborhoods that it's going to be affected when we do have these traffic calmings in the area. But also, when we have when we have citizens participation we know that the citizens are engaged, and we've looked at all of the target areas, we've heard all the concerns. We've also informed them of things that could happen strategies and identifying what those strategies could look like for their neighborhoods,” says Jamie Dixon, President, Lima City Council.
There will be another workshop to gather more resident feedback. A date has not been set, but officials say they hope to hold it sometime next month. The goal is to have a final traffic plan ready to present for council approval by the end of the year.
