LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima Memorial Health System will be lacing up its running shoes this weekend.
On Saturday morning, runners will come together for Lima Memorial’s second annual Milestones in Motion 5K run and walk. Following a successful inaugural event held as part of Lima Memorial’s 125th anniversary celebration last year, the 5K returns to support the Lima Memorial Foundation Samaritan Fund. The fund helps Lima Memorial patients by providing financial assistance for medications and medical equipment, while also supporting the hospital’s food pantry. Hospital staff say registration is up this year and they are excited to continue supporting this need.
“This will be our second year doing this, and we're excited to say that it's already grown. We are around 30% more pre-registrations this year, so we're really excited for everyone to be able to come out,” says Sam Schroeder, Lab Director, Lima Memorial Health System.
“It's community supporting community- that's what it really is. Everybody has a little extra, sometimes, to give, and in this way, it's putting on those sneakers and getting out there and enjoying the weather and some friends around the community... and then giving back to those community members,” says Mitchel Hoying, Director of Case Management, Lima Memorial Health System.
The Milestones in Motion 5K will take place Saturday, May 31, beginning at the Lima Memorial Main Hospital entrance on Bellefontaine Avenue.
