LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Middle school students in Lima will have the opportunity to explore future careers this summer through the city’s GenNext Makers Camp. Now in its third year, the free camp is designed for students ages 10 to 13 and aims to introduce them to a variety of career paths available in the Lima region.
The camp, which runs July 21–24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bradfield Community Center, features classroom activities, field trips, and special guest speakers. Its primary focus is on STEM education—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The program is part of Lima’s ongoing effort to prepare young students for local workforce opportunities and to highlight the range of careers available in the region after graduation.
“Our GenNext Makers campers will get to experience not only in-classroom activities that expand their knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics,” said Amber Martin, coordinator of Workforce and Small Business Development, “but they’ll also get behind-the-scenes looks at industries and manufacturers in our community.”
Registration is currently open. To sign up, visit the City of Lima’s webpage for the Makers camp.
