LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima residents had the opportunity to dispose of unwanted household items Saturday as the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup continued into its third week.
Seven dumpster sites were set up throughout the city, allowing residents to drop off old building materials, bulky trash and other items they no longer needed. Several community organizations and volunteers assisted residents at the collection sites, including members of Boy Scout Troop 777 at Robb Park. The scouts spent the day helping residents unload and dispose of items while supporting the cleanup effort.
“I feel like it sets a good message on what Boy Scouts is and that it shows that we're still around and still helping out the community. It feels good to help out the community by getting rid of all their trash instead of them leaving it out on the streets,” said Grayson Warner of Boy Scout Troop 777.
“The community gives us so much and we just want to give a little bit back. Honestly, right now it's a great time to just cash in because we all know that you guys all have a whole bunch of stuff to throw away,” said Ethan Rodden of Boy Scout Troop 777.
The Mayor’s Spring Cleanup will conclude next Saturday. Residents can find locations of the remaining dumpster sites for the June 13 event on the flyer below.
