LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Many hands make for light work, and the Lima Rotary Club demonstrated that spirit on Monday.
Lima Rotarians volunteered their time to pack food boxes for the West Ohio Food Bank. This has become an annual service project for the club, with the food bank bringing the necessary supplies to the Civic Center for the Rotarians to pack. Both organizations say the project is meaningful and has a real impact on the community.

"Every month we put out 1,500 of these senior boxes throughout our service area, and we brought enough today in the time that we have available with Rotarians to pack at least 300 of those. So each day, we're consistently packing those boxes just to make sure that seniors have food on their tables," said Tommie Harner, CEO of the West Ohio Food Bank.
"I find that it's very fulfilling to be able to do something physically, like manifesting in a physical activity where you're able to pack these boxes. You know it's going to people who need it, and it's a small way that we can help make our community a little bit better. So I would say, on behalf of our club, that's probably why we feel so inclined to do these types of projects," said Demi Burden, President of the Lima Rotary Club.
In 2024, the West Ohio Food Bank served more than 64,000 people. The organization is always in need of volunteers for a variety of services. For more information, you can contact them at 419-222-7946.
