Lima Senior Agriculture students grow funds through annual plant sale

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Students in the Lima Senior High School agriculture program are putting their skills to use ahead of Mother’s Day with their annual plant sale.

Now in its second year, the sale is hosted at the Spartan Farm Greenhouse, where students have spent the school year cultivating a variety of flower baskets and plants.

Students say proceeds from the sale will go back into the program to support future projects and improvements.

“So, we'll use the money for, obviously, to buy more flowers next year, because we're going to do this and hopefully it'll be bigger, hopefully it'll be better. We'll put money towards projects we just have to finish, because a lot of the things that we're trying to do or that we want to do, or even that we need to do, can't be done because we're out of money,” says Mekhi Garee-Lomen, Junior, Lima Senior Agriculture Program.

The plant sale is taking place at the Spartan Farm Greenhouse, located at 700 E. Edwards St. in Lima.

It runs Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, May 9 from 8 a.m. to noon.
