LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - At Lima Senior, sophomore students gathered for a signing ceremony to the Career Tech program.

Career Tech is a program at Lima Senior that offers students the opportunity to learn a job. With programs such as early childhood, construction, and welding, each student is able to pick a career they are interested in. Similar to other career schools, Career Tech is housed in Lima Senior and gives the junior and senior students a career path to have outside of high school graduation. 75 percent of the sophomore class is signing for a career tech program.

Lima Senior sophomores sign on for Career Tech career pathways

With programs such as early childhood, construction, and welding, each student is able to pick a career they are interested in.

"In the guides that we gave them, it has their expectations and things like that, so they're starting to think in that program mentality. Then, they sign I'm going to try to do my best to learn a trade, and get a job in that trade after school," says Frank Kohlhofer, Career Tech director at Lima City Schools.

By giving these students a jump-start to a career path they might enjoy, Lima Senior is setting up future high school graduates for success.
