LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima Senior Spartan fans were able to show their support before the big state championship game this weekend through a pep rally.
Held at the main gym at Lima Senior, parents, siblings, friends, and supporters all gathered to bring some pep to the pep rally by showing support for their local team. The Lima Senior basketball team is on their way to competing in the final four. With a season score of 22 to 4, the Spartans are preparing for the biggest game in their high school career. By having a public pep rally, the players and coaches could see how many people are supporting their successes and will be cheering them on in the stands.
"I mean anytime you can bring the community together for any purpose is always a blessing, and it's always a good thing. So, we know sports is a magnitude, the way to connect the dots and bringing the community together," says Quincey Simpson, Head Coach of the Lima Senior Spartans.
"You know, the community supported us this whole year, so I think them coming out, showing support, and watching our practice, having this little pep rally, that's showing support, and hopefully they can bring the same energy to state," says Shawn Foster, a varsity player for the Lima Senior Spartans.
By having a pep rally to excite not only the players, but the community, it brings the positive energy the team needs to win state championship. The Spartans face Massillon at 1 pm this Saturday at Wright State University. The state finals will be at noon Sunday, at the University of Dayton. Tickets can be found on the OHSAA website.
