LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The hard work of Lima Senior High School graduates was recognized during the school’s annual academic signing ceremony.

Roughly 90 seniors signed certificates to commit to higher education, military service, or entering the workforce. Academic Signing Day has been a tradition since 2015 and highlights the different paths students take after graduation.

School officials said they hope the event inspires underclassmen to start thinking about their futures and how Lima City Schools can support them in achieving their goals.

“That’s the one thing we pride ourselves on here at the Lima City Schools, is making sure that we have a quality education for every student, there's something for everybody to gain from our programs that we have here at Lima Senior High School,” said Darnell Collins, principal of Lima Senior.

“I've learned a lot, and I've changed a lot. The teachers are amazing, and they do really care for you, and they have turned me into a better person. I'm really excited, but I'm kind of scared. I'm scared to go to college because it is a big change, but I'm honestly super ready, and I'm hoping that it'll be like a good start of my career, and that things will be pretty fun,” said Makayla Redd, who plans to attend Bowling Green State University.
