ST. MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) - With winter now behind us and spring taking hold, it won’t be long until boats are back on area lakes.

As boating season approaches, Grand Lake St. Marys will offer the Ohio Boating Education Course. The class satisfies the state’s mandatory boater education law for first-time boaters. Topics include general boat knowledge and safe operations, legal requirements, boating emergencies, and water sports.

The course will take place Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Celina Water Treatment Plant, 714 South Sugar St. It is a one-day class with no charge, and all educational materials are provided. Those who pass the course receive a lifetime boater education card.
