LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A local teen drop-in center is preparing for summer programming and inviting families to learn more about the services it offers to area youth.
The SAFY Drop-In Center provides a space for young adults ages 12 to 17 to relax, socialize and participate in structured activities and support programs.
The center offers a variety of services, including respite care for families, peer socialization opportunities and specialized programs designed to help teens build life and communication skills.
“We also offer a more therapeutic approach to where we can offer self regulation skills, teach kids how to self monitor, how to interact respectfully with adults and peers, and hopefully have them take those tools and carry them into the community, the school and their home and with the people they meet on a day to day basis,” said Regina Colwell, community outreach coordinator for SAFY Drop-In Center.
The agency is hosting open houses this week from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Friday. Families are encouraged to stop by for lemonade, meet the staff and learn more about the center’s programming.
The drop-in center is located at 658 W. Market St., next to Lima Public Library.
