LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – There’s still time to take home a piece of history from a local veterans’ canteen.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 is continuing its move-out sale as members clear out the building at South Main and Elm streets. Items for sale include plates, chairs — and even the kitchen sink.
The building has been purchased by the City of Lima for future development. While the post is closing the canteen, members say the organization will remain active.

“We’ll still have our charter. We’ll still have our meetings,” said Mark Rader, Sr. Vice Commander of VFW Post 1275. “We have a meeting next Thursday on the fourth at 7 o’clock. It’s going to be up at 330 North Elizabeth Street, down in the small conference room there. That’s the old title department. So everybody is more than welcome that’s a VFW member. Just show up here for the meeting.”
Rader said the post expects to begin searching for a new location after the first of the year.
The sale continues Saturday August 30th from 9 a.m. to noon and is cash only.
