LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — If you’ve been holding onto old cellphones, radios, or other electronic gadgets, Mercy Health–St. Rita’s is inviting you to safely dispose of them during its Earth Day celebration.

Accepted items include cellphones, laptops, radios, computer equipment, media devices, small appliances, and more.
As part of the event, the hospital will provide e-waste recycling bins for the public to drop off unwanted electronic items. Accepted items include cellphones, laptops, radios, computer equipment, media devices, small appliances, and more. The goal is to reduce landfill waste and promote environmental responsibility.
“We’re really concerned about public health and the wellness of our communities,” said Matthew Etzkorn, vice president of mission at Mercy Health. “Electronic waste, if it’s not disposed of properly, can actually harm our soil, groundwater, and air.”
The e-waste collection will take place Tuesday, April 22, from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the hospital's loading docks on Baxter Street, next to the parking garage. Visitors are asked to enter from Market Street. Food trucks will also be on site during the event.
