Lima, OH (WLIO) — Nonprofit leaders from across the region and beyond gathered Thursday for the second day of a two-day educational conference.
The National Association of Nonprofit Organizations and Executives (NANOE) held the event at Keese Hall on the campus of Rhodes State College. The "Major Gifts Ramp Up" conference was sponsored by the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce and aimed to teach nonprofit leaders new and effective ways to raise funds for their organizations.
Creating relationships with community members and donors is considered the lifeblood of nonprofits, and for senior counselor and conference coordinator Jacque Daley-Perrin, the lessons learned during the event could help elevate nonprofit organizations to new heights.
"As we teach our model, it's really helping nonprofits grow and develop relationships with individuals in the community that have the ability to help them. And so we teach them how to tell their story. We teach them how to build those relationships and those connections, and how to invite people to support their mission," stated Daley-Perrin.
Some of the nonprofits in attendance included Habitat for Humanity, Heir Force Community School and Downtown Lima Inc., along with higher education representatives such as Ohio Northern University.
