DELPHOS, Ohio (WLIO) - Novus Foods breaking ground on a major expansion at their Delphos facility.
Formerly known as Lakeview Farms, the company produces yogurts, dips and salsas at its Delphos plant, which serves as both a manufacturing hub and a central shipping point for products across the country. Company leaders officially started work on Thursday on a 136,000 square foot addition to their distribution center.
The new $35 million facility will help Novus ship products made in Delphos more efficiently nationwide. The project will create 15 new jobs and help retain more than 500 current positions.

Company officials say the Delphos location is key to their continued growth.
"This distribution center will allow us to maximize our freight network; it allows us to bring goods from our plants across the country and cross dock them through here in Delphos and send them out to our customers," said Phil Baldauf, senior vice president of growth for Novus Foods.
Novus received a 90-percent, 10-year tax abatement in September, something company leaders say made the project possible.
"The tax abatement was one of the critical factors of us being able to move forward, and the community, from Delphos City Schools, the Delphos City and the Allen County Commissioners were incredibly supportive in getting this passed through," said Baldauf. "It was critical for us to move forward."
Construction is expected to be complete by this time next year.
