SPENCERVILLE, Ohio (WLIO) - The gym at Spencerville High School looked like a page straight out of a history book on Friday.

The elementary school hosted its very own living wax museum. 4th graders transformed into influential people from past and present, based on biographies they read from the "Who Was/Who Is?" book series.

That meant learning all about that historical figure, dressing like them, and coming to life with a quick presentation when students pushed a button on the wall. The goal was to become an expert on characters who made an impact on the world.

The goal was to become an expert on characters who made an impact on the world.

"The kids really immersed themselves into the characters, bought into the idea, learned all about that, and did their best to transform into that famous person," said Rachel Abel, 4th grade teacher at Spencerville Elementary.

"I'm Amelia Earhart, a famous pilot best known for being the first woman to fly long distances in an airplane," said Macy Crouse, as Amelia Earhart. "I tried to cross the Atlantic Ocean, wrecked, and was never heard from or seen again."

Family members were invited in to watch the students in action, portraying a long line of historical figures from King Tut and Edgar Allen Poe, to the Rock and Johnny Appleseed.
