SAINT MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) - A Columbus teen pleads guilty to a shooting at a St. Marys gas station last year.
18-year-old Franklin Uceda-Mercado pleaded guilty to felonious assault and an amended charge of attempted carrying a concealed weapon. An Auglaize County grand jury also charged him with theft and tampering with evidence, but they were dropped as part of the plea deal.
The shooting happened in the early morning of April 26, at the Circle K gas station in downtown St. Marys.
St. Marys officers found a male with a wound to his lower leg. During the investigation, officers found out that there were two groups of individuals arguing at the gas station when someone brandished a gun and fired. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, and police arrested Uceda-Mercado during the investigation.
He will be sentenced on the charges on April 1st.
