Botkins races past Lehman Catholic to set up regional final showdown with Delphos St. John’s

VANDALIA (WLIO) — Botkins jumped out early and never looked back, defeating Lehman Catholic 66-55 in a Division VII regional semifinal at Vandalia Butler.
The Trojans surged to an 18-4 lead after the first quarter behind a three-pointer from James Steinke. Botkins extended the advantage to 33-17 at halftime, highlighted by a steal and score from Owen Zimpfer, who led the team with 14 points.
Lehman Catholic was paced by Shane Frantz, who finished with a game-high 18 points, while Braden Ulbrich added a second-quarter basket to help the Cavaliers try to cut into the deficit.
Botkins kept control in the second half, with Steinke finding Brayden Welsch for a basket as the Trojans secured the win.
Botkins advances to the regional final where it will face Delphos St. John’s on Saturday at Vandalia Butler with a trip to state on the line.
