LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Representatives from the Ohio Department of Medicaid stopped in Lima to share information about the state’s Next Generation MyCare program during a visit to the Area Agency on Aging.
The program offers a one-stop assistance plan designed to help seniors who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. State officials say the initiative allows managed care organizations to coordinate benefits under a single plan, streamlining services for those with complex medical needs.
The Next Generation MyCare program is currently available in 29 of Ohio’s 88 counties. It is scheduled to roll out in May for Allen County and six other counties served by the Area Agency on Aging 3.
Allison Stehlik, executive vice president of the Area Agency on Aging, said the coordinated approach can make a meaningful difference for participants.
“These managed care organizations now have the ability to manage both your Medicare and your Medicaid benefits, so that way, it better just coordinate your services in the community, especially for those that have chronic disease or additional needs,” Stehlik said.
Officials say seniors who participate in the program may also qualify for additional benefits.
