LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A group of diverse and dynamic speakers will take the stage in Lima this weekend as TEDxFaurotPark returns to the community.
The locally organized event will feature six national speakers, including two Lima natives, discussing this year’s theme, “Connections.” Topics will range from the pros and cons of artificial intelligence to the role of art in communities and conversations about aging and life’s final chapter.
TEDx events are licensed local gatherings inspired by TED, designed to bring thought-provoking ideas and discussions to communities around the world. Organizers say each talk is carefully fact-checked and presented without political or religious agendas.
Executive Producer Aimee Bucher says attending the talks in person creates a unique experience for the audience.
“There’s something about being in the audience, hearing the talks live, being in that energy. We also have discussion time for the audience. After every talk, you hear this amazing idea, and you have a chance to talk with your neighbor about it and say, ‘Oh, wow, I thought about this and this and this,’” said Bucher.
TEDxFaurotPark will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Encore Theatre. Tickets are still available and are currently being offered as a buy-one-get-one-free promotion through the event’s website.
