LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Law enforcement searched through Mercy Health-St. Rita's after a reported bomb threat earlier Friday.
According to the Mercy Health-St. Rita's, at 11:26 a.m. an anonymous phone call was made to St. Rita's reporting an alleged bomb threat. The Lima Police Department was quickly contacted and searched the hospital with the building's security team. Nothing was found in the hospital and the threat was deemed not credible.
Mercy Health-St. Rita's released a statement saying that quote, "One of our most important responsibilities is the safety and security of our patients, visitors, associates, and physicians. Mercy Health would like to thank the Lima Police Department as well as our onsite teams for their swift, efficient, and caring response."
August 11, 2023, Press Release from Mercy Health-St. Rita's: At approximately 11:26 a.m., Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center received an anonymous phone call reporting an alleged bomb threat. Mercy Health immediately contacted the Lima Police Department, who quickly arrived on the scene and thoroughly searched the hospital in conjunction with our onsite security team. Nothing was found within or outside the hospital, and the threat was determined to be not credible. The hospital continued to operate during this time.
