Auglaize County Sheriff's Office dedicates tree to former sheriff

The Auglaize County Sheriff's Office decided to remember one of their own by dedicating a tree Thursday afternoon.

The man that the sheriff's office wanted to dedicate was the late Larry Longsworth, who was sheriff of Auglaize County from 1989 to 2005. The tree is located just outside of the sheriff's office - Longsworth was a major part of the building's construction.

Sheriff Al Solomon says that dedicating the tree to "The Boss" was an important thing to do, especially with the kind of person that Longsworth was.

"The respect that the sheriff had around the county, the respect that we had for him - if you were close to the sheriff at the time with trying to get this building built, you know the effort and time that he had to put into getting it done," Sheriff Solomon said.

The sheriff's office plans to dedicate other trees to former sheriffs in the future.
