WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Auglaize County Historical Society gave residents a chance to revisit local history on the final day of 2025 by hosting a Noon Year’s Eve event at the Wapakoneta Museum.

The museum opened its doors to families for a variety of hands-on activities, including a scavenger hunt, making noisemakers and helping design the museum’s stained glass windows, which are currently being redone. Visitors also had the opportunity to tour the collections room, which houses hundreds of exhibits not currently on display. Organizers said the event was designed to showcase Auglaize County’s rich past and encourage community members to connect with local history.

Auglaize County Historical Society rings in Noon Year’s Eve with museum event

“Our history in Auglaize County is America's history. We're entering into the 250th anniversary of the country, and so this is a nice way to kick that off, to remind ourselves that we have wonderful history here in West Central Ohio, and we're very happy to share it.” says Rachel Barber, Auglaize County Historical Society.

Those interested in learning more about Auglaize County’s history will have additional opportunities beginning in March, when the Wapakoneta Museum resumes its fourth Sunday open houses.
