CRIDERSVILLE, Ohio (WLIO) -Â The Cridersville Fire Department celebrated their community Saturday with their 61st annual Fire Jamboree.
The jamboree has been the primary way of raising funds for the department, bringing food trucks, craft vendors and kids games to the area. The full-day festival included a kids fishing derby, bike rodeo, magic show, and parade. Volunteers said it helps bring together an already bonded community while bringing in extra money for the department.
"Everybody needs something to do. We're just here to serve the public and hopefully we can provide them a good time, a good weekend and a way for us to make some extra money to cover costs on equipment or training that we don't get through grants, said Cridersville Fire Chief Rick Miller.
The event originated as an ice cream social for the village before being picked up by the fire department, and it has continued to grow since.
"Every year we try to add something new. We've added car shows and live entertainment. We've also got a gospel tent over with Worship Anyway over across the street. Every year we try to keep it fresh, keep it moving, and just keep it fun for everyone," Miller added.
The event wrapped up with a live music performance and a grand prize drawing.
