Highway Patrol urges drivers to follow Ohio’s "Move Over" Law after close call on I-75

WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding drivers to move over or slow down when approaching a stationary vehicle with its lights activated on the side of the road.

The patrol posted a video on social media showing a close call on I-75 near Wapakoneta on November 22nd. A trooper had a vehicle pulled over when a semi, which failed to move over, struck and knocked off the mirror of the stopped vehicle.

The trooper was able to stop the semi driver and issue a citation.

Ohio’s "Move Over" law requires drivers to shift one lane away or slow down significantly if moving over is not possible. The patrol says this is more than a law — it could save a life.
