NEW BREMEN, Ohio (WLIO) — For 50 years, the New Bremen EMS has been there when residents needed help the most. On Sunday, they celebrated their golden anniversary with an open house for the public.

Visitors had the chance to check out the squad’s vehicles and equipment, while retired volunteers reminisced about their time on the squad and shared memories of notable emergency runs over the years. Current EMS members expressed their appreciation for the continued support from the New Bremen community over the past five decades.

“Even when we have a big incident going on with the fire department, big structure fire, the community will they'll come help us. They'll bring us water, food, if need be. They'll support us any way we need. We have great, great volunteers helping us. We're happy to see them here, and they get to see everything that we're doing for them,” said Larry Weimert, President, New Bremen Emergency Squad.

The New Bremen EMS currently has about a dozen volunteers but is always looking for more to help serve the people of southern Auglaize County.
