ST. MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) — Six hundred seniors from various Otterbein locations put on their game faces and had some fun Friday in St. Marys. Residents from 12 different Senior Life communities, as well as the small house neighborhoods, took part in the 6th annual Otterbein Olympics.

Athletes competed for medals in seven events, including pickleball, chair volleyball, and cornhole. There were also fun activities such as extreme trampoline, axe throwing, and pontoon boat rides to add to the excitement. Otterbein officials say this is one of their most anticipated days of the year—not because of the competition, but for the fellowship.

Otterbein Seniors compete and connect at 6th Annual Olympics

“It's so important when for us as Otterbein, we are truly one Otterbein family, and our mission is inspired by faith. We strive to enrich individual life journeys. And this is just one way for all of our residents to come together for for a day of connection and engagement, and really just a chance to meet new friends and also have some fellowship with some old friends as well,” said Angie Powell, assistant vice president of Otterbein’s Senior Life Communities.

Residents were not the only ones competing. Chefs from different Otterbein locations presented their best dishes for residents to judge and pick a winner.
