WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation is celebrating 35 years of service and hopes its upcoming event will inspire future performances in the city.
The foundation is bringing the Broadway quartet "Under the Streetlamp" to the Wapakoneta Performing Arts Center, located at the high school. The foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life in Wapakoneta and serve as a catalyst for identifying and addressing community needs. Organizers hope the concert will spark conversations about the value of the performing arts center.
"We are hoping that we can engage people in the community to want to start an ongoing performing arts organization," said Greg Myers, executive director of the Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation. "There are seven of those in our region. They're doing great work, bringing the performing arts into their towns, and 70 across the state altogether. So we think that the asset that Wapakoneta has in its performing arts center is a tremendous opportunity to bring that kind of art into our community."
