WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Wapakoneta Octagon Club hosted a free community movie night fundraiser through donations Wednesday night.
Each year, the Wapak high school's octagon club hosts a movie night, but instead of showing a released movie, they decided to host their fundraiser on the opening night of the Super Mario Galaxy Film. By having this new movie, kids and parents alike were excited to see the film as well as bring a donation for admission. Many donations were made. All proceeds went towards the Auglaize County Crisis Center, helping local families and individuals in need.
"The biggest thing is they do a lot for kids our age, and kids at our school. Our club is very fortunate and we know we're fortunate, and not a lot of kids are in the community so we appreciate everything the Auglaize County Crisis Center does, and we're glad that we can contribute to that," says Dre Niekamp, President of the Wapakoneta Octagon Club.
This marks the club's last big event for the season, as they focus on making a difference in their local community as well as watching a family movie.
