Bank Robbery in Bluffton

     A morning bank robbery at Chase Bank in Bluffton on Tuesday, results in a high-speed chase, a fire and an arrest. At 9:56 AM on Tuesday, a man entered Chase bank, on Main Street, in Bluffton. He presented tellers with a note, threatening an explosion, if his demand for money was not met. Tellers handed over an undisclosed amount of money, and the man fled from the bank.

     Thanks to a detailed description from the tellers, of the mans vehicle, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers found the vehicle heading north on I-75. After a short pursuit (7-8 minutes), the man exited his vehicle to surrender. Upon stepping out, he pulled out and dropped a molotov cocktail. Troopers put out the fire and arrested 43-year-old Brian Matheny, of Eastern Jordan, Michigan. 

     Matheny was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital, treated for superficial burns and released to the Allen County Sheriff's office for transport to the Allen County Justice Center. Matheny has been charged with one count of robbery.
