Bath Salt hospitalizations down since ban

It's been more than a month since Lima City Council passed a ban on synthetic drugs.

Both Lima hospitals are reporting a decrease of patients coming to their facilities high on bath salts.

Kyle Erford with Lima Memorial Hospital credits the ban and the media attention paid to the problem with bath salts.

Erford notes when a person suffering from a bath salt overdose the concern is not only for the safety of the patient but also the safety of their staff as many patients can become aggressive when under the influence.

St. Rita's Medical Center also reports a similar decrease in cases since the synthetic drug ban took effect on June 20th.
