Big 7 Regional Thought Roundtable offers advice for local businesses

The Big 7 Regional Thought Roundtable was held Friday.

The Big 7 Regional Thought Roundtable was held Friday with dozens of local businesses, political leaders, and industry officials showing up to hear how the Big 7 can help them with the challenges they are facing.

"Certainly there's challenges we still have. Issues of inflation, although that's starting to come down. And I think workforce challenges are probably paramount. Just finding folks of all levels of retail, whether that be front-line retail, front-line, and logistics, our companies that we represent still need people to work. That's still a challenge for retailers large and small," said Alex Boehnke, VP of legislative & corporate affairs at the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants.

It was an opportunity to hear from officials from seven organizations that represent Ohio businesses in some form.

"We engage state and federal lawmakers to make sure that Ohio's farm economy is robust as possible. We are Ohio's number one industry, and we recognize that food security is national security. So we want to be able to bring the products to the grocery store shelves that Ohioans and Americans, for that matter, expect and deserve," said Brad Bales, Sr. Director of State & National Policy for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation.

Bales says they are also pushing for Congress to pass the Farm Bill as soon as possible.
