Hundreds of people gathered at Faurot Park Saturday afternoon to help raise awareness about Down Syndrome.
The Buddy Walk kicked off with a walk around the park. As they walked, teams held signs with the name of the person they were honoring.
In addition to the walk, there was also an award ceremony. The event is held every year as a way to celebrate all the family members and people that have down syndrome. The organizer says it's important because it makes many people feel special.
“It’s just a great way to let them know that everybody supports them and can come together and have a great time in their honor,” said Chrissy Hood, a Down Syndrome of Northwest Ohio board member.
All of the proceeds from today's event will go towards the Down Syndrome Association of Western Ohio.
