LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Lima is helping businesses get a fresh look, which they hope will inspire others to revitalize the area around them.
The City of Lima and the Lima Community Improvement Corporation awarded Burns Dental with the second-ever Better Blocks for Business grant. The program provides businesses along commercial corridors in distressed neighborhoods with money to make building improvements.
Dr. Alyson Amerson has been practicing in Lima for 17 years. In the past year, she has been able to buy the building that is home to her practice at 459 South Main Street in Lima. Now, thanks to the grant, she can give it a needed facelift.
"With the grant, I'm hoping to make the building look more vibrant and just like repairs on the outside. So, it's more pleasing to the community," says Dr. Alyson Amerson, owner. "And just a little bit more color and things of that nature. Previously, the business was a gas station with cement blocks. So, just looking to update it a little bit, make people like smile when they come to the dental office."
Amerson says she hopes to start making improvements next week.
