WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) — More families are receiving help this holiday season thanks to Christmas Jubilee and support from the Wapakoneta community.
Now in its fourth year, the organization is assisting 161 families by providing presents for children and food for households in need. The program continues to grow annually, starting with help for about 50 local families during its first year.
Organizers say the success of Christmas Jubilee is made possible by strong community support from businesses, schools and individuals who step up to help their neighbors.
“We could not do this without the community. I mean, they have been astronomical. Every family got a bonus box of food from the food drives at the school. We had almost 60 bicycles donated. Like it our community is the best and the thank yous and the tears that we get through the line. I just had a mom come through, and she told me that her daughter was through just a few moments ago, and she wanted to come back and give everybody a hug, because she's just so excited, and so I can't thank our community enough," says Becky Puff, Christmas Jubilee Committee.
The committee plans to hold a wrap-up meeting in January before beginning fundraising efforts for next year’s Christmas Jubilee. Those interested in helping can find more information on the organization’s website and social media pages.
