Lima Senior avenges loss to Winton Woods, advances to State Semifinals

SPRINGFIELD (WLIO) — Lima Senior is headed back to the state tournament after defeating Winton Woods 62-58 in the Division II regional final.
The Spartans were locked in a tight battle throughout the night and trailed by two at halftime despite a strong first half from Shawn Foster, who finished with a team-high 25 points.
Lima Senior gained momentum in the fourth quarter as Dashad Greer scored on a putback to extend the Spartans’ lead to 50-45. With under a minute remaining and Lima holding a five-point advantage, Shawn Foster lobbed the ball to Willie Foster for a two-handed dunk that helped seal the victory. Willie Foster finished with 10 points.
The win sends Lima Senior to the state tournament for the first time since 2016. The Spartans will face Massillon in the state semifinal next Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Nutter Center.
