COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio (WLIO) — The Columbus Grove Bulldogs are moving on in the Division VII Region 26 playoffs after a 28–8 win over Gibsonburg Friday night.
Quarterback Landon Best led the way for the Bulldogs, scoring twice in the first half — once on the ground and once through the air. Best powered into the end zone for Grove’s second touchdown, then connected with Trevon Baxter on a deep pass to make it 21–0 at halftime.
Gibsonburg responded early in the third quarter, as Aiden Morant broke free for a touchdown to get the Golden Bears on the board. But the Bulldogs’ defense tightened up from there.
In the fourth quarter, Gavin Barraza added another rushing score to extend the lead, and Best sealed the game with an interception on Gibsonburg’s next drive.
Columbus Grove improves to 8-3 and advances to face Lima Central Catholic in the regional quarterfinals — a rematch of their Northwest Conference showdown earlier this season.
