Congressman Jim Jordan talks about foreign aid funding bills and Trump's hush money trial

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The U.S. House passed a 95 billion-dollar foreign aid package this past weekend, but an Ohio congressman questions the money that will go to help Ukraine in its war with Russia.

The House passed four bills on Saturday: three that dealt with foreign aid to Israel, Taiwan, and Ukraine, and one that dealt with the social media platform. Congressman Jim Jordan voted against the aid for Ukraine, saying he wants to know the endgame of the conflict. He thinks we should be working on our Mexican border first.

"What's the goal here? How do we define what winning is? Is it to drive Russia out of the eastern Ukraine region that they've currently got to? Is it to drive them out of Crimea, which they've held for 10 years now? They took it under the Obama administration. No one seems to be able to tell us what the objective is, and you know, I don't think we should be sending a bunch of American tax dollars to some foreign conflict, even though we know Russia is wrong here, unless we know what the ultimate goal is," stated U.S. Congressman Jim Jordan, (R) Ohio's 4th District.

Jordan also talked about the hush money trial against former President Trump. He says the allegations were first made eight years ago and adds that it wasn't until Trump announced his presidential run that charges were brought against him.

"And this case is just ridiculous. I mean, their star witness is Michael Cohen. When Michael Cohen testified in front of our committee, he lied six different times. Everyone knows he perjured himself before, so the fact that that is their star witness is just ridiculous, so I think the country sees through it," added Jordan.

Cohen pleaded guilty in 2018 to federal charges related to his role in the hush money payments.
